All In A 514 Fashion Minute…

Things are really blowing up around here, and I admit, no matter how disciplined I am and no matter how much work I get done, I am always left in a heap more!  I’m too slow-mo for this fast-paced world – way too old school in my functioning!  My weeks are filled with glamour, intoxicating personalities, exciting events and long nights staring at my mac screen (the only place I truly find comfort in it all).   I’m distancing myself from those I have grown to depend on over the years, and teaching myself how to exist without leaning on anyone else for emotional support (tougher than it looks kitty cats).  The more I fall down the path of my career and where I want it to be, the more I realize how isolated and unbreakable I have to be as a female.  I am still learning, still testing the ropes – still developing into what and who I want to be.  I feel like I haven’t seen anywhere near the best part of where this will all lead (and rightfully so).  I’m just getting warmed up!

I’ve also realized that I need a little more excitement in my life.  I need to get out more and act my age (even though I truly am an old bat at heart).  I am too young and this city is too beautiful to be wasted on my worries and hermit nature.  Having just come home from a beautiful dinner in little Italy, I miss the terraces, the street festivals and the convertible cruising.  I feel like (as cozy as it may be) I’ve spent my summer more or less completely indoors on the mend.  Healing.  For what I’m not quite sure.  My body and mind are preparing for a big change in my life that I’m pulling in faster than ever.  In many ways I feel like I’m losing my mind, in others, I’ve never felt more insightful or ready.  There is a loose screw up in my head that will save me from myself.  I’m entering a time in my life that will no doubt be completely filled with adventure and trying new routes (spoken like a true on-her-way-to-her-thirties chick).

Festival Mode & Design was a blast (as always)… my personal highlights?

The awesome Jeanne Becker hanging out backstage (and front stage of course) to host the gorgeous Les Intemporelles show (I would have seriously worn each and every one of the incredible vintage pieces lent out by the museum), hamming it up with the Alouettes football team on closing night, surviving the bloggers fashion show and living to tell about it after (haha), lots of boy toys in lots of nakedness backstage at the Oh La La show (buns of steel anyone?), Jean Paul Gaulthier’s hottie tottie models with individualistic attitude, Angelo Cadet’s wackiness (cause c’mon folks – he’s always a fashion highlight), and of course hiding out for momentary lapses in the Indigo bookstore cafe for solitude and strength regeneration due to nonstop heels!

Last night I checked out a mega-successful event hosted by Mercedes Benz at Usine C (I can tell you everyone there had a blast between the undying supply of tasty hors d’oeuvres, open bar, and company of some seriously respected industry pro’s).  Their Startup program is designed specially to allow up-and-coming designers both mentoring and financial/marketing support for upcoming fashion week presentations.  While I must admit I was totally rooting for Travis Taddeo (a 514 fave of mine), each and every one of the collections were shown beautifully in an equally perfected manner.  Amongst the competitive candidates were the duo behind Martin Lim (Danielle Martin & Pao Lim), Faren, Anastasia Lomonova and UNTTLD (Simon Belanger & Jose-Manuel St. Jacques)… the two semi-finalists?

Martin Lim & UNTTLD (congrats)!

Check out more pics on my fb fanpage (lots of new galleries up as of late) – the juice!

(Travis Taddeo creation)

How cute is Abeille?

(Anastasia Lomonova creation)

I am totally in love with everything about this girls beauty.  Perfection.

(Faren creation)

(The team behind UNTTLD left, with the Martin Lim duo right)

Gettin’ ma hair did!

Okay… do these dudes not look like superheroes?!?  Ahem… *damsel in distress* I’ll take young Tom Cruise on the left…

(Martin Lim creation)

I love her paleness… blonde shade, haircut, makeup and demeanor.  Okay, I love everything about her… angelic.

Oh hay boys…

(UNTTLD creation)

I want new hair colours like this everyday of the week.  Fresh.

Jeanne Becker on wearing Denis Gagnon (pictured with Elle here);

“I love Denis Gagnon.  I just love him.  He makes a statement.  His clothes really have a great dramatic/theatrical effect to them and I just love what he does.  True genius.”

Couldn’t agree with you more lady!

This butt shot just makes me laugh.  Gotta keep it juicy.

Fashion perks, what can I say (no pun intended).

Goodnight!

Have a beautiful weekend!
